How Do You Help Your People Reach Their Full Potential?

You’ve heard it a million times - your people are your greatest asset. In reality, isn't the potential that lies within your people your greatest asset?

Tapping into that potential is the tricky part. How do you do that on a consistent basis? How do you inspire and encourage your people to do their best?

First and foremost, you must have a fundamental belief in people. This belief in people is truly at the heart of helping people reach their potential. You have to believe in the people you’re leading, believe that they can succeed and want to help them succeed.

A key ingredient to high performance is confidence. When people have confidence they believe they can succeed.

Without confidence it’s hard for your people to venture outside of their comfort zone. They feel stuck and unsure about taking action on the very things that lead to their success.

That’s where you come in. Your people need to hear that you have confidence in them. Don’t assume that they know. You must tell them! A sincere, “You’ve got this.” or “I know you can do this.” or “I believe in you.” goes a long way to encouraging someone to take the next step in their journey to high performance.

The second key ingredient to helping your people reach their full potential is to provide a culture in which they thrive.

A culture built on trust and respect. A culture where communication and collaboration are commonplace. A culture where team members are appreciated and recognized for their hard work - on a daily basis.

Focusing on these two key ingredients - Confidence and Culture - will help your people and your bottom line.

I was recently a guest on the Success in South Carolina podcast where I talked about the fundamental belief in people and a whole lot more. Listen here.
