Would you want to hang around you right now?

I hadn’t planned to write about this today.

In fact I hadn’t planned to write ANYTHING today.

But a conversation with a client this morning and a message I just received from someone about my podcast spurred me on.

Because this is a topic I am very passionate about!

I talk about this every chance I get!

My client is struggling with a team member who focuses on the negatives, who seems to always see the glass as half-empty and just can’t seem to find anything positive to say about anything.

And right after that conversation, I got a message from someone who had just listened to some of my guests on the Beyond the Turning Point podcast.

“Their attitude has already impacted my attitude in a very positive way!”

My favorite quote about attitude is by the late, great Zig Ziglar.

“Your attitude, not your aptitude, determines your altitude.”

Zig was so right!

Our attitude determines how well our day will play out.

Our attitude determines how enriching our relationships will be.

Our attitude determines how far we’ll go in our career.

Our attitude determines how much impact we’ll have in our life.

Let’s face it, people don’t like hanging around people with a bad attitude.

It’s annoying.

It’s discouraging.

It’s tiring.

I know people, and I’m sure you do too, who have real hardships and who are dealing with incredibly hard circumstances.

Yet, they have a fabulous attitude!

We hang around them for only a few minutes and it’s like drinking a big ‘ole energy drink.

We’re uplifted.

We’re encouraged.

We’re grateful.

Our attitude improves because of their attitude!

Jim Rohn said “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with, including yourself.”

I love that last part “including yourself.” After all, we spend a lot of time around ourselves, don’t we?

I think there’s a great question we can ask ourselves to get a reality check on our attitude.

Would I want to hang around me right now?

Make no mistake about it.

Attitude makes a difference!
